For many people, building an Epheria Sailboat or Frigate and upgrading it into a Caravel or Galleass is a daunting task. There’s many things you have to gather, many things you have to do and it’s all a little hard to process at all once. So in this guide I will help to break it all down for you!

[P.S. I made a Caravel and Galleass section of this guide too but someone posted a pretty good guide before I completed mine so refer to their guide for the Caravel and Galleass upgrades!]

Contents:

  1. Node Investments and CP usage
  2. Epheria Sailboat and Frigate Comparison
  3. Building an Epheria Sailboat
  4. Building an Epheria Frigate

Node Investments and Contribution Point usage:

High Priority Nodes:

Red Tree Lumps Nodes for Caravel / Galleass upgrade: 5000 required
Red Tree Lumps are really rare in the SEA marketplace with over 1M pre-orders at the time of writing so there’s not much choice other than getting them from Nodes which give about 1-6 each time. There are 3 nodes that give them so sending workers to those nodes early is important.

Coconut Nodes: ONLY For Epheria Frigate

Coconuts are needed for making Pine Coated Plywood and can only be attained from nodes. Pre-orders on the Central Market are fulfilled occasionally, but don’t depend too much on the Central Market as you need a lot of coconuts.

Coconut Nodes

Port Epheria Shipyard (Important to get early)

Here is where you will be building your ship. You require 12 CP for the shipyard and 15-30 CP for lodging for at least 10 - 20 workers. If you have most of the materials you need, you can get more workers by linking Calpheon and Port Epheria and sending workers from Calpheon too.

I highly recommend starting the crafting process as early as possible as each material = 1 work job and you can start crafting even without all the materials. So in total the Sailboat requires 3220 jobs and the Frigate requires 3875 jobs. To put this into numbers, with 15 Skilled/Professional goblins and each job taking around an hour, a Sailboat requires 215 hrs which is about 9 days of working non-stop and a Frigate requires 259 hrs, which is about 11 days of working non-stop. Starting early is always always a good choice here.

Epheria Sailboat vs Epheria Frigate:

In my opinion, Sailboat is the way to go for most players. It’s easier to build, upgrades to the Caravel which is much more convenient for bartering than the Galleass. Also, since you need 3000 barters to even start exchanging items for the materials to build a Carrack, every bit of weight counts. Unless you do Sea Monster Hunting very regularly for your Guild Quests, 2 additional cannons will not make too much of a difference.

So now that we got the super important stuff out of the way, I’ll be listing down the materials required for the boats and the ways you can get them!

Building an Epheria Sailboat:

You can buy a Epheria Sailboat off the Central Market for 565 million, or exchange [Event] Shining Shakatu’s Seals x30 for a Sailboat. Shining Shakatu’s Seals are obtained from attendance rewards, you get 5 every 14 days, so you need 3 months’ worth of seals.

Alternatively you can upgrade a Bartali’s Sailboat into a Epheria Sailboat, which skips the build time, but as it is more expensive and requires rare materials that are hard to get (Traces of the Earth), I will not be explaining that method.

Method

Design: Epheria Sailboat

25

[Daily Quest] Falasi’s Kindness

-          From Philaberto Falasi in Port Epheria

-          Gives 1 per day

[Weekly Quest] Harpooning Quest

-          From Katio in Nada Island near Port Ratt

-          Gives 1 per week

-          Very very time-consuming quest and I do not recommend trying to doing this

[Quest] I knew this day would come

-          From Pavino Greko, Storage Manager of Port Epheria

-          Gives 5 after completion of questline

-          Quite a time-consuming questline and requires travel to Port Ratt. Do not recommend doing unless you are rushing to build a sailboat.

Standardised Timber Square

Standardised Timber Square

800

Obtained from chopping logs into Usable Scantling then into Standardised Timber Squares.

Logs can only be gathered or bought off Central Market. If you have a low chopping mastery (< 600), I recommend using a Magic Lumbering Axe for more logs per tree. Also, chopping Pine Trees around Trent is recommended as they give Pine Timber too

Very Important: Only start processing when you have at least Artisan 2 Processing for maximum yield of products.

Steel

600

Can be obtained from heating 5 Melted Iron Shard and 5 Coal together, but I recommend simply buying them off the Central Market

Pine Plywood

1500

Chopping Pine Trees gives Pine Timber into Pine Planks and then Pine Plywood. Can also be obtained from nodes.

If you gathered the logs from Pine Trees you should have enough Pine Timber for this. Buying them off the Central Market is an option too.

Flax Fabric

300

Process flax into flax threads and then into flax fabric yourself. Flax can be obtained from nodes. Central Market is also an option.

Building an Epheria Frigate:

Useful Questlines:
- [Suggested Quest] [ADV] Exploring Calpheon Sea:

  • Gives 50 Standardised Timber Squares, 70 Jade Coral Ingots, 50 Enhanced Flax Fabric, 50 Pine Coated Plywood

- [Recurring Quests] [Lv.58] Kamasylvia Contribution:

  • 6 Quests that give either 3 Enhanced Flax Fabric or 3 Pine Coated Plywood each

- [Daily] Business with Falasi Familiy:

  • Gives 10 Jade Coral Ingot or 50 Pine Coated Plywood or 30 Enhanced Flax Fabric
  • You start this quest from Philaberto Falasi after completing the daily quest for the ship designs. It requires a harpoon so you need at least Fishing Professional 5.
  • Requires fishing for Porgy, Maomaos, Saw Shark and Whale Shark.
  • Porgy is best gotten from fishing hotspots, refer to [Somethinglovely.net] for locations
  • I recommend harpooning for Maomaos.
  • Saw shark and Whale shark are harpoon only.
  • Harpoons only work on fishing boats or cogs
  • This quest is time-consuming, can be as fast as 30 mins or take up to 2-3 hours depending on your luck.

No other way of obtaining

Jade Coral Ingot

800

[Main Quest] Level 58 Kamasylvia Main Quest gives 80.

You can gather corals and craft your own from resplendent gems but I do not recommend this as gathering corals is very slow if you don’t have the Pearl Shop Fish outfit. I recommend buying them from Central Market.

Pine Coated Plywood

1600

[Daily] Kamasylvia Dailies (Mentioned above)

Can be obtained from heating Coconuts with Pine Plywood. 5 Coconuts for 1 Pine Coated Plywood. Can buy off Central Market but you can only order 50 at a time and there are many orders for it in the Central Market

Coconuts are obtained from nodes only.

Chopping Pine Trees gives Pine Timber into Pine Planks and then Pine Plywood. Can also be obtained from nodes.

Enhanced Flax Fabric

450

[Daily] Kamasylvia Dailies (Mentioned above)

Buying off Central Market is a good option, can be crafted from Shining Powder and Flax Fabric but simply buying Enhanced Flax Fabric is cheaper.

Thanks for taking the time to read this guide! I hope it has been useful for you in helping you build your Epheria Sailboat or Frigate!

Special Thanks to my guildmates at Blackwatch who shared their own tips on building their own Sailboats and Frigates with me!~~
