Ingredients Preparation and Processing

In the previous post, I covered the list of ingredients needed for my Calpheon Meal and where to get them. As mentioned, this is a meal, which means it contains more than 1 (5) cooked food in it, Namely, Milk Tea, Cheese Pie, Meat Pasta, Soft Bread and Fish Fillet Salad.

Ultimately, you need to cook these 5 together to make the Calpheon Meal, but before you can cook this final recipe, you need to cook the 5 foods first, and that requires a lot of preparation.

Below I cover the tips I learned, either through my own experience, or via friends, guildies and fellow adventurers I met along the way.

Make Gathering/Processing Alts

As a Lifeskill main, I never thought alternate characters would be needed. Non-Lifeskill and/or combat oriented players normally use alts for Lifeskills or World Boss locations. I realized however, that the main reason I need alts is for more energy.

I currently have 500+ energy, and even with that I still do not get my target ingredient amount per day, since I will be mass processing/cooking. By having alternate characters, you automatically have more energy at least 2x, depending on the number of alts you make. You can also place these alts strategically on gathering/processing locations to save on travel time.

Processing While Recovering Energy

I first use my main character, and consume all her energy to gather an ingredient. Once she's out, I go place her on a processing location (Storage NPC), and go to an alt to continue gathering. I repeat this process until all of their energy is consumed, before I start processing the gathered ingredients. By doing this I ensure that I do not waste time waiting for energy to recover, and do not waste energy recovery by having full energy on alts.

NOTE: If you're in a guild check if you can do Lifeskill (Gathering) GQs. This can help earn you guild points, for whatever rules your guild have on that, and some silver along the way.

Gathering and Processing Equipment.

Here I will list all the equipment I had while gathering and processing. These are recommendations, and you can opt not to have any, as gathering and processing can be done without any gear.

Gathering:
Silver Embroidered Gatherer's Clothes +3
Professional Gatherer's Uniform (1 Tailor Coupon, at least Pro 10 Gathering)
[Shai] Curious Gatherer Clothes - Only for Shais
TET: Loggia Butcher Knife

Processing:
Silver Embroidered Craftsman's Clothes +3
Venecil Dress/Karki Suit Costume
Manos Processing Stones (Super optional, but helped)

Accesories (used for both Gathering/Processing):
TET: Loggia Necklace
TET: Loggia Ring x2
TET: Loggia Earring x2
TET: Loggia Belt

NOTE II: Another optional item is the Camping Tool. This is totally a luxury and you can definitely do without it. But ever since I got 1, reparing gathering and hunting tools has been a breeze. So consider getting 1 on sale, I personally got 1 last November for only 700++ Pearls.

Learn Gathering Rotations

One major ingredient, for Calpheon Meal is Milk. If you follow the ingredient's list to the tee, you need 200k++ Milk to make 29k Calpheon Meal, but as per my tip on the previous post, gather 2/3 of the max required. When I first started gathering Milk in Milk farms, I would gather from all the cows in the area. I learned that you only need 6 cows, gather around them, repeat.

When harvesting Pork for the Meat Pasta, I've always done it in Northern Wheat Plantation, as there are a lot of boars outside the village. My main problem, they're scattered. I learned that there is a red meat group, similar to Blood, and I can replace pork with either Rhino, Wolf, Lamb, etc, choose 1 whichever location is most convenient for you.

In summary, depending on what you're cooking, it is straightforwad, and just gather what you need. But for efficiency, it helps to learn even a wee bit more about the ingredients we need.

Rent Storage/Container

For newbies this is a remote storage box you can rent from the storage keeper NPC, and place inside your house, to access your storage box in that city.

Some/most will say 10 CP (required to rent this) is a waste, but for me, it gave more convenience. I place my main and 3 alts on both Gathering and Processing locations. I rented a house in one of the milk farms and place the container there. As it is the same storage box It helped me move Gathering/Processing equipment (except Character bound costumes), from my main to my alts. Also, my processing character can easily access the ingredients stored by the gathering alt.

So those are my tips, when preparing my ingredients but I'm sure there are more to learn. Share your own tips below!

When I used to think about leveling my cooking, I felt so lazy as it cannot be done fully afk efficiently. I guess it's something you just have to make time for.
