This guide will not cover how to make a character, and will definitely not advise you on what looks good or not, that is something unique to each player. What we will cover are some quick tips on how to conveniently navigate the character creator or beauty shop.

1. Always "Raise Hair"

This makes sure that you see all the details you're putting on your character's face. Sometimes the raise hair option has bangs, which covers the forehead and eyebrows. When this is the case, you can untick the "Raise Hair" option and use another hair as long as it doesn't cover parts of the face.

2. Use Dark Skin on Face Shape & Body

The sub category Face Shape, lets you edit all of the angles and details of your character's face, whenever you're in this section, adjustable parts of the face will be highlighted. Similar to the face shape, the adjustable parts on the body is shown with a lighter color. It will be easier to see these sections on top of a darker skin color, so you can see the shapes and angles you are editing.

3. Use Light Skin on Make-up & Eyeline

Same reason for using dark skin when editing face shape, it is easier to see the make-up and eye line when editing on a light skin color. It lets you see the shape of the make-up you're packing on, and the intensity of the color, which is harder to see on darker skin.

4. The 25 Scale

When editing anything with a slider, always test it on increments of 25, from 0 to 100.  Then you can decide how intense you want the look to be, reducing or increasing it by 25. While editing make up for example, I put the density and area sliders to 100 just to see the shape and color, once I'm happy with the shape, I reduce it to 75 or 50.

5. Check on Different Angles

By default, your character is facing you, and will follow your cursor unless you click the "View" button on the upper left screen. When editing it's best to untick this so your character looks straight on. At the same time, tilt and check your character from different angles. For example when editing eye lashes, it's easier to see if you tilt your character back.

See sample character creation below applying the above tips. The final look is available for download in the gallery. Hope this helps!

Thank you Misterius and Rosylle! More of this in the coming weeks. I personally enjoyed making another Nova look that is totally the opposite of the original one I made.
