Greetings, Adventurers!

As previously announced, your Black Desert accounts will be integrated with the Pearl Abyss ID system during the maintenance on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. The Pearl Abyss ID integration will improve the safety and security of your valuable accounts, while also improving and reworking various frequently used features on the website, making them easier to use.

In order to make the website easier to use, a variety of website features including logins, My Page, community forums, etc. will receive QoL improvements.

1. Rework Overall Functionality of My Page

My Page, where you can see your account and game info, will be divided into sub-categories, allowing you to view your account/game info more quickly and easily.

1) Account Information

① The game information of games you played will be easily viewable.

② You can also see recommended games that are playable based on your region.

2) Account Details

① An “alternative email” feature will be added, allowing you to change the email you signed up with. By using the alternative email feature, you can directly resolve cases when you cannot receive authentication emails due to losing access to your registered email.

② If you set up your interested games and agree to receive promotional emails, you’ll be able to receive newsletters about the games you are interested in.

3) Link Account

① Twitter and Google will be added to the list of social media platforms that you can link to your Pearl Abyss account. After the account integration, you can use either a Facebook, Twitter, or Google account to easily log in.

② You’ll also be able to link your Pearl Abyss account with your Twitch account. By linking your Twitch account, you’ll be able to access Twitch Drops, which will be added in the future.

* Twitch Drops are currently being prepared. More information about the exact update date will be announced once it is finalized.

4) Account Deletion

Before the account integration, you had to request account deletions through our Customer Support, but afterward, you will be able to directly delete unused accounts (after a set period of time) through the new account deletion function. However, please keep in mind that all saved data (including Family/Characters, payment history, etc.) within that account will also be deleted when you delete an account.

2. Community QoL & Accessibility Improvements

1) Forum Category Improvements

The community forums will be largely divided into General Discussion / Art & Media / Tips & Guides categories.

① General Discussion

- Class Discussion / General Gameplay / Feedback / Guild & Friends / Off-Topic

Some of the sub-forums of the previous General Discussion category have been combined, while the Guilds & Friends, Feedback, and Class Discussion have been moved under it.

② Art & Media

Fanart / Screenshot/Clips

The existing Fan Art sub-forum in the previous Gallery category will be retained, and the Screenshot/Clips and Video sub-forums will be merged into Screenshot/Clips.

③ Tips & Guides

Classes / Gameplay

The Gameplay and Classes sub-forums under the Adventurer’s Board category will be retained, and Class Discussion will be moved under General Discussion.

2) Hashtag & Filter Improvements

Appropriate hashtags and filters have been added to each forum, letting you easily find what you want to read.

3. Changes to Forum Profiles & Poster Names

As one account will allow you access to all of Pearl Abyss’s PC platform games, you’ll also be able to use all of our community forums with one Pearl Abyss account as well. Once you set up your Pearl Abyss profile with a nickname and profile image, you can start posting on our forums right away.

① Once the Pearl Abyss account integration is completed, the poster names (character name) of existing forum posts will be changed to “Character Name - SEA.” However, if you already have a Pearl Abyss account from Shadow Arena or Black Desert Korea, North America/Europe, or South America and you’ve already set up your profile, then your profile will keep the same set-up. If you wish to change your profile, you can reset your profile from Account Information.

② For profile images, you can select one of the character images that we provide. Once you select a profile image, it will be the profile image that is displayed whenever you upload a post.

③ Posts created before the Pearl Abyss account integration will not be separately deleted. You can still view someone’s posts by viewing the post history through their profile.

4. Reworks to Certain Profile Features

① Since forum poster names and representative characters are being separated, the feature for checking poster information/posts and game character information will also be separated.

 



② The somewhat unused Adventurer profile comment feature will be deleted.

③ If you change your Family name, your characters will only be searchable with the changed Family name, and searching Family names with only part of the name will no longer be possible.

5. In-game Adventurer's Board Improvements

① Parts of the Adventurer’s Board will be changed to allow you to see more information at a glance. The main screen will be composed of the Events & Announcements, Adventurer’s Guide, Oasis of Knowledge, and Community menu. From here, you can directly view comments related to the following categories: Active Events, New Notices, Adventurer’s Guide, Tips & Guides, Art & Media, General Discussion, and Oasis of Knowledge.
② The level requirements to post in the Oasis of Knowledge will be removed.

6. Simplified Account Sign-Up Process

① The existing multi-step process of signing up for Black Desert will be improved to a single-screen process for a Pearl Abyss account.

② A Pearl Abyss account is an account that is used for PC platform services worldwide, which means that information about your region of residence will be collected unlike before. After you submit your region of residence, you will receive game recommendations based on what games can be played via your Account Information page.

1. Security Center Changed to Account Security Center & Game Security Center

① Account Security Center

In the “Account Security Center,” you can change your account password, set up a One Time Password (OTP), and view your login history. In particular, your login history will allow you to see more detailed information about where logins are happening from and what device/software is being used to log in.

② Game Security Center

The “Game Security Center” is where you can use the Black Desert PC Registration feature. Unlike before in which you needed to authenticate via email twice, once at the website and again at the game launcher, the Pearl Abyss account integration will now allow you to complete registration directly through the game launcher with only one email authentication. Please note that you will need to authenticate your email every time you register or unregister a PC as a safety measure to protect your valuable account.

2. Changes to Certain Game Launcher Features

① The game launcher’s login screen will be receiving changes. Although you must first log in to play the game, you will be able to download updates even if you are not logged in yet.

② When you log in to the game launcher for the first time, a pop-up with the Black Desert Terms of Service will appear. You will need to accept these terms to launch and play Black Desert.

3. Cookie Pop-up for Pearl Abyss Account Pages

In accordance with global security standards, cookie pop-ups will be displayed on Pearl Abyss websites that can be accessed worldwide. You can choose to allow all cookies to be saved or choose your own custom setting, such as mandatory cookies only, etc.

4. Obscured Family Names for Operational Policy Violation-related Announcements

In accordance with global privacy standards, certain parts of the Family names that are shown in Operational Policy-related violation announcements will be obscured after the Pearl Abyss account integration. Additionally, information such as emails and real names will also be obscured for event winner announcements,
