Hotspot fishing guide and revamped Imperial Fishing Delivery seals
Hotspots are certain specific areas in the sea that gives one kind of yellow fish when you try and fish on it. When you see seagulls hovering around a single spot with a group of fish jumping out of the sea that's what a hotspot is.
Things to prepare for hotspot fishing:
- A lot of inventory slots (as many as you can, the amount of inventory you have determines how much you can fish/earn)
- Triple float fishing rods
- An Epheria Sailboat/Frigate or an Epheria Cog (any fast boat so you can easily navigate in the sea)
- A lvl 5 fishing ability (to cut down on fishing time)
- can be obtained by the following: (Guild Buff, Food, Alchemy Stone, Elixirs, Silver Embroidered Fisher's Clothes, etc.)
- Master 1 fishing (so you can see the majority of hotspots)
How to obtain Triple float fishing rods:
- You can either buy one from the marketplace (reduces your profit) or do the quest to obtain 3 Triple Float Fishing rods every 3 days
- after finishing all the prerequisite quests, you'll be able to unlock the recurring quest that gives the triple float fishing rods every 3 days
- why Triple Float fishing rods? Using this rod allows you to obtain multiple fish in one attempt!
Where to look for hotspots?
- Here is a map with rough areas on where to find specific fish hot spots near velia, ilya island and lema island. Hotspots aren't limited to spawn in this area for there are also other kinds of hotspot fishes that can only be obtained in certain areas (ex: Eyespot Puffer, Porgy, Smokey Chromis and Sea bass can only be caught around the sea above Port Epheria.
- You can check this website for more possible hotspot locations http://www.somethinglovely.net/bdo/
Where to sell them?
- If you have Artisan 2 trading lifeskill, it might be better to sell all those fish that you got to Valencia together with the desert trading buff which gives more profit when trading items across the desert but most people got no time for that and thus we sell them in a different approach through "Imperial Fishing Delivery", there are 1 Imperial Fishing Delivery NPCs per region: Balenos - Velia (in front of storage manager), Calpheon - Port Epheria ( near Wharf Manager), Serendia - Glish, Kamasylvia - Grana, Drieghan - Duvencrune
- by selling your fish in imperial fishing npcs they buy your fish at 250% of their price regardless of the distance from it's origin, trading fish to these npcs also gives you the chance to obtain Golden Seal - [Imperial Fishing].
(PS. If you have the old seals , those will remain as it is and you can exchange them for the old items listed on it but after the update on the imperial golden seals last June 2020 we will now be receiving these new seals instead of the old ones)
What to get with these seals?
- let's get a run down on the possible things to exchange from this seal
- it's not really advisable to exchange them for epheria boat parts so let's skip them
1. (25 seals) Breezy Conch Seaweed - this is an item for T8 Courser training to get a Dream Horse, adds 1% to elegance training level (for Dine dream horse)
- cost per golden seal = 100k silver
- market price (before tax) = 2.5m silver
2. (70 seals) Gold Key - can be used to open Sealed Golden Treasure Chest or Margoria sea treasures
- can also be obtained by exchanging 100 silver keys = 3.05m silver
- cost per golden seal = 43.5k silver
- can't be sold in the market place
3. (250 seals) Black Essence Carmae - can be used to craft Black Magic Crystal - Carmae, you need 1 black essence carmae + Ancient Magic Crystal - Carmae
- the Ancient Magic Crystal can be bought from the central market or gathered from blue whale/fugitive khalk (4.6m silver as of this writing)
- market price (before tax including the deduction from buying the Ancient Magic Crystal) = 28.3m silver
- cost per golden seal = 113.2k silver
4. (250 seals) Black Essence Addis - can be used to craft Black Magic Crystal - Addis, you need 1 black essence addis + Ancient Magic Crystal - Addis
- the Ancient Magic Crystal can be bought from the central market (1.91m silver as of this writing)
- market price (before tax including the deduction from buying the Ancient Magic Crystal) = 30.8m silver
- cost per golden seal = 123.1k silver
5. (2000 seals) Manos Fisher's Clothes - high end lifeskilling gear for Fishing
- market price (before tax) = 110m
- cost per golden seal = 55k silver
- Personally, i exchange my fishing seals with Black Essence Addis for they have a decent stock in the central market most of the time and from it's golden seal to silver ratio
- it's not that bad to exchange them for Breezy Conch Seaweed too
(this is my first time making a guide btw so i apologize if my formatting is a bit off compared to other guides, if you have questions regarding the topic pls leave a comment in the thread)
