BDO recently released a simple and consitent way to get PEN (V) boss gear items guaranteed.

This system allows you to steadily feed materials to your TET (IV) boss gear and end up with PEN (V) Boss Gear.

With all that in mind the basic question that I want to tackle with this post is " Is it worth for a newer player to go for PEN KUTUM OFFHAND?"

First we need to understand what the role of Kutum offhand is so we can make informed decision regarding our upgrade priorities.

1. From 265 Kutum AP, it is the better offhand for PVE under all circumstances by virtue of having really high bonus monster damage.

2. On high evasion gear i.e minimum full PEN (V) armors with atleast C6 caphras level , Kutum can be used as pvp offhand choice to boost your defensive evasion stat a bit more. Full PEN C9 evasion gear lands you around 690-700 evasion which with the current abundance of accuracy accessories in game often times is not enough but it varies between class matchups and opponent gear choices also.

Since we are looking from the point of view of a relatively newer player we need to understand how beneficial PEN Kutum offhand is as an upgrade over other options specifically for PVE so we can maximize our PVE silver output while making smart choices.

We have two other options before considering PEN Kutum offhand for pve

1. TET Kutum

2. Combatant's Tuvala Offhand.

If we consider 265 sheet ap with TET Kutum then the offhand breakdown as follows.

As you can see from the table, even though PEN Kutum is an upgrade its overall effect is relatively similar to our other choices.

Tet Kutum only has 6 effective monster AP lower while Combatant's Tuvala is lagging behind by only 3 effective monster AP.

THIS DIFFERENCE IS SO SMALL THAT IT WILL NOT REALLY CHANGE SILVER/HOUR IN ANY NOTICEABLE FASHION.

Additionally Combatant's Tuvala offhand has 3 Monster Damage Reduction that is helpful in surviving and using less overall HP potions.

The guaranteed PEN(V) Kutum upgrade requires a lot of materials and resources (around 7 Billion silver approx) which for newer players are better invested in other areas.

It is a very minor upgrade overall and not one worth pursuing atleast before reaching where you have FULL PEN armor and weapons.

It is my very strong recommendation for newer players to skip PEN(V) Kutum offhand till you reach FULL PEN armors and weapons.
