The Basic Life Skill Guide of Gathering Activity

So you're beginners that into life skill type especially gathering ? and you like gathering activity more than combat, pve or pvp on BDO ? If so, this is the guide for you, let's get to the details of lifeskill gathering for beginners/newbie.

1. Basic Gathering

Gathering is one of many life skill type that BDO has. As a gatherer you can gather any type of items that needed for alchemy, cooking, or processing. You can sell your gathered items on central market or you can make use of the items for your own. For example, if someone cooking a meal and they needed meats for the recipe, you can sell the meats for them on central market so they don't have to do it, or if you do some cooking for yourself, then you can keep the gathered items for your own usage.

2. Levelling Up Gathering Skill / Gathering Mastery

Like the other lifeskill, you start at the Beginner Lvl into Apprentice, into Skilled, into Professional, into Artisan, into Master, and lastly Guru lvl. As your gathering skill lvl up you will get mastery depends on your gathering lvl. You start with 0 mastery on beginner 1 and ended at Guru 50, you will get 800 base mastery for your gathering lvl. You can see the chart of mastery lvl per lvl on the column table below. 

Note That The Higher Gathering Mastery you have, will increases the number of basic materials you get when gathering, as well as the chance of gathering special and rare materials.

- Basic Resources: drop amount increase up to +400%, chance to obtain up to 80%
- Special Resources: drop amount increase up to +100%, chance to obtain up to 200%
- Rare Resources: drop amount increase up to +85%, , chance to obtain up to 250%
- Very Rare Resources: drop amount increase up to +44.42%, chance to obtain up to 133.25%
- 0% to +30% chance of not consuming Energy per gather (reduced from +60% chance at Master 1 Gathering Life Skill)

- Life Skill Mastery is affected by the existing Life Skill levels, and is also affected by items such as Loggia clothes and accessory items.

3. Gears / Tools For Gathering Life skill

Just like pve or combat, life skill or gathering need a gears too. Depend on what type of gathering you do, you will need different tools for different type of gathering activity. For example if you want to gather meat, you will need Butcher Knife, if you want Mining then you need Pickaxe, if you want to collect some blood or sap then you need Fluid Collector, if you want to skinning then you need Tanning Knife, if you want to chop some wood then you need Lumbering Axe, if you want to gather some herb or grass, you can use Hoe. There is total of 5 types activity for gathering and you will need different tools for any type of gathering activity that you do. You can get theese tools on the Material Vendor in every town, or can be purchased on central market. Note that some of theese tools will reduce your gathering time.

Not only tools for gathering, you can also use accessory and clothes for any type of life skill that you do especially gathering. There is a few type of gathering accessory and clothes such as Manos and Loggia that you can use to maximize your gathering activity. Because this is a guide for beginners, i will not explain further more about gears such as manos because they're to expensive and quite hard to get for beginners. But instead for starters or beginners gatherer, i highly recommend you to use TRI LOGGIA ACCESSORY and if u have more silver, you can get the LOGGIA GATHERER CLOTHES to maximize your gathering activity. Note that using this item will increase your mastery and of course it's gonna increase your resources that you get from gathering as you can see on the mastery table that we talk about before.

Lastly you can use Lifeskill Artifact such as Life EXP Artifact or Life Skill Mastery artifact and also lightstone set/combination for gathering that gonna maximize your gathering. There is a few set/combo for specific effect, you can see the lightstone set on bdo in game or you can see on the website below.

4. Gathering Buffs

What ? Gathering has a buff too? Yeah, as you know if combat has a buff, then same thing happen with lifeskill too. You can use Food, Draught/Elixirs, and Perfume to maximize your gathering activity. One of the most important food buff for gathering life skill is a Seafood Cron Meal. Beside food buff you can use other buff like draught and perfume too, one of many type that the most used on gathering activity is a Verdure Draught and Perfume of Swiftness. There is also other buff like Life Skill Exp Buff, Secret Book of Florin and Tent Buff for Life Skill. But don't get confuse for the buff, as for beginners on gathering activity, i highly recommend to use only seafood cron meal for early untill you understand really well what is the effect of other's buff.

The other buff for gathering that you can get for free is a Guild Buff, note that if you're join some guild there's skills on the guild that Called Nimble Fingers, this skills will increase your Gathering level up to +3.  And also there is the other buff called Kamasylve's Blessing that will increase your energy recovery into +2.

Now you know the basic gathering, levelling up your gathering lvl and mastery, gears and tools for gathering, and lastly is gathering buffs. To put it simply, First thing first you need a tools for gathering that you can purchase from material vendor or central market, after you have the specific tools for gathering, you can buy the lifeskill gears or clothes especially loggia accessory and clothes and also using buff to maximize your gathering mastery and lvl up a bit faster. And now you're ready to go.

Also some suggestion if u wanna level up ur gathering lvl a little bit faster, you can gather some herb using a hoe near the Behr village at Calpheon City.
