Chat window

It is a window where various messages such as conversations between the characters and the notices are exposed.

In order to chat, press [Enter] key and open chat input box, or you can set a chat macro.

 

▲ You can set macro by clicking [M], or open the social action window by pressing [S].

 

The exposure range for chat differs depending on the types of messages.

Depending on the message type, if you chat continuously in a quick speed, it will be considered as Chat Flooding and you might not be able to chat for a certain period of time so please keep this in mind.

 

 

 

Chat message type


Setting window: If you press the cogwheel icon in the chat window, you can change the setting.

You can change the transparency of the chat window or apply different filter depending on the message type. 

 

Create new: If you press the ‘+’ button at the right side of basic chat window, you can make a new chat window. If you click the new chat window, you can separate or delete the chat window through right button.

The separated chat window moves to the center of the screen, and you can move it to a desirable spot by using ESC – UI edit feature.

 

▲ You can create separate chat window such as party chat, guild chat, server group chat, depending on its use.

 

 

• Notice: It is a message from the operator.

 

• System: It is a message that notifies changes and errors about the game system.

 

• World: It is a message that is shown to everyone in all servers.

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 6) while the chat input window is open.

Input '/a' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box.

But, in order to use world message, you need ‘megaphone’ item.

 

• Server Group: It is a message that is shown to all characters in the same server.

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 2) while the chat input window is open.

Input '/y' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box

 

• General Chat: It is a message that is shown to characters nearby. 

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 1) while the chat input window is open.

Input '/s' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box

 

• Whisper: It is a message where you can talk 1:1 with a certain character.

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 3) while the chat input window is open.

In order to whisper, you must input a certain character’s name or family name.

Input '/w' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box

 

• Party: It is a message where you can talk with party members.

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 4) while the chat input window is open.

Party message can be used only if you have already joined a party.

Input '/p' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box

 

• Guild: It is a message where you can talk with guild members.

You can select it using Shortcut (Alt + 5) while the chat input window is open.

You can use it only if you have already joined a guild. Input '/g' (change the command if necessary) to the activated chat input box

 

• Combat(Death): It is a message related to combat between and death of the characters.

 

 

 

@ Chat highlight function


If you input @character name and chat content in the chat window together, only to the character whose name is inserted after the @symbol, the @character name out of the conversation will be colored in light green and notification sound will be heard.

 

If you use this function, while writing on chat window where a lot of people from guild, party, and team can read and write, you can highlight the content to the person you specified.

▲ Write down @character name, what you want to say in the chat input window.

 

▲ @Character name will be highlighted in light green only for the specified person.

 

 

 

Chat window setting


If you press the cogwheel icon in that chat window, you can change the type of chat you will show on chat window.

You can check just the system message, or choose to view server group and general chat.

Not only that, you can make the chat window transparent so that you can make the screen view wider.

 

If you choose the color palette at the right side of setting window, you can change the color of the chat group the way you want.

You can color the general chat into yellow, and change the server group chat to pink.

 

▲ If you click the color part, you can set the selected chat message to a color you want.

 

What if you can’t see the messages in the chat window properly?

Change the font size of the chat window.

You can also make the chat window font size smaller as well.

 

At the bottom of the setting window,

You can choose if you want to set your name that is shown in the chat window to be your character name, or family name.

 

The name that will be shown on the chat window changes upon selecting the buttons, so it would be good to choose your style after trying out the buttons.

 

When you whisper to someone, in the chat input box, and chat window, name display mode is exposed so that you won’t be confused about who you’re talking to.

 

▲ The name display mode is exposed so that you can input the character name or the family name to whom you are whispering.

 

You can set the chat macro by using the [M] key from the chat input window.

You can input the phrases that you often use and set it with a Shortcut.

 

 

 

 

Social action


After activating the chat window by pressing the enter key, you can press the S button on the right side of the chat window and make social actions.

 

Even if the social actions have the same name, depending on the character and gender it shows different expressions and gestures.

Enjoy the social actions from basic expressions to confident poses that makes you want to take screenshots of.

 

For social actions, even if you don’t press S button next to the chat input box to check, the character can do the corresponding action naturally if you set a command or keywords that are easy for you and enter one of them into the chat input box.

There are some conditions for some special social actions.

The conditions for the use of these social actions are summarized and can be viewed if you hover your mouse on the corresponding social action icon.

The conditions for the social actions are usually composed of quests, and some social actions can be only used if you have particular titles.

Install the Black Desert Launcher if the game doesn't start.

Install the Black Desert Launcher to start the game.

The launcher will appear if it's installed.
If it doesn't, try to run your downloaded launcher.

2 Start the game once installation is complete.
